About the role
CrackTech Limited is a technology company that builds digital products used by millions — starting with Live MCQ™, and now a growing portfolio across learning, publishing, and consumer technology.
We are inviting applications from talented, passionate, and experienced professionals for the position of Senior Backend Engineer.
If you have strong backend engineering experience, system design thinking, database optimization ability, and a genuine passion for building scalable, reliable, and production-ready systems — this is a great opportunity to join a dynamic, high-performing technology team.
We need a backend engineer who thinks before they build. You'll dig into requirements, spot problems early, and own the technical design from start to finish. You'll work directly with senior engineers and our CTO to make sure what we ship is solid, scalable, and built the right way.
Responsibilities
- Read requirements carefully and flag gaps, edge cases, and unclear parts before any coding starts.
- Help design system architecture — service structure, database schemas, API boundaries — and review them with the team.
- Build clean, reliable backend services using Django and FastAPI.
- Design and tune databases for speed and scale, across both SQL and NoSQL systems.
- Find and fix performance issues in APIs, queries, and background jobs before they cause problems in production.
- Take part in code reviews and push for code that's correct, secure, and easy to maintain.
Requirements
Educational & Professional Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Strong academic or professional background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or any relevant discipline is preferred.
- Core: Django, FastAPI, MySQL/PostgreSQL, REST APIs
- Storage & Infra: Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Celery/RQ
- Bonus: AWS, Docker, Infrastructure as Code
- 4+ years building backend systems that handle real traffic at scale.
- You think from first principles — not just "what framework does this".
- Strong understanding of databases: how indexes work, how queries run, when to use NoSQL.
- Good at communicating trade-offs clearly, whether you're talking to an engineer or a non-technical teammate.
- You ask questions early, hate assumptions, and like getting things right the first time.
